What is there to say about a mid-thirties woman who loves to read and write?

I live and write in Calgary. My book reviews and articles have appeared in FreeFall Magazine and various community newsletters. Although I love all facets of writing, I have to admit my first love is fiction. Recently, I had a short story short-listed in FreeFall Magazine's Prose and Poetry contest, as well, another short story in the Freshwater Pearls Anthology, published by Recliner Books (Sept. 2011). And I am working on my first literary fiction novel.

Short stories are fun and give me an opportunity to explore ideas that I probably never would, from a unique perspective. I like to challenge myself and experiment with elements of the short story to bring an otherwise ordinary topic to life.

When I'm not crumpled over my computer or notebook, I review other writer's manuscripts. To date I've reviewed literary fiction short stories, parts of novels, children's books, science fiction, memoirs/creative non-fiction and even a little - erotica. Who knows, maybe one day I will experiment with that genre.

In my other life, I am married to a wonderful Dutch man and spend many days chasing around my almost 3 year old toddler, cleaning up her writing on the wall and crushed eggs off the floor.

Because I own more books than I know what to do with I have moved into the realm of the review. It's a rare occasion for me to pass by a book store without purchasing something which is evident from my shelves of unread masterpieces and is the popcorn kernel stuck between my husband's back teeth.
